In March '22, ApeCoin was dropped to BAYC/MAYC hodlers and it was amazing.
The idea behind ApeCoin would be that it would act as a governance token. Meaning the more of it you held, the more impactful your voice would be when voting on Ape DAO proposals.
DAOs were all the rage. It was fun. Until about six people with a lion's share of the ApeCoin started making all the decisions and running the DAO into the ground.
Skip forward to June 1st of this year (2025). @CryptoGarga says he is considering dismantling the DAO, puts up the AIP, and it essentially passes unanimously.
YAY!! WE DID IT!! APECOIN IS NO LONGER A COIN USED FOR GOVERNANCE 🎉
But wait. If ApeCoin isn't used for voting power, what is it used for? 🤔 This left a vacuum and forced us to find a new purpose for $ape.
Project RAID was built to help sculpt this purpose.
In comes the term "Culture Coin". WTF is a culture coin you ask?
The idea is that $ape become a universally usable token for fun, degeneracy, defi and hyperfinancialization, and incentives. And that the way $APE is perceived will now be predicated upon the behavior of our community.

The team started by making sure that ApeCoin was available to use in AS MANY places as possible AS FAST as possible. Hence the RAID acronym (Rapid ApeCoin Integration Deployment).
