After 2.5 years traveling for work in web3, @Charchit_WEB3 got tired of buying a new eSIM in every country.
So he built @gesimxyz, a solution that lets you switch carriers in real-time and share unused data with friends.
Here's what builders can learn from their approach 🧵
Charchit spent 2.5 years traveling for work at The Graph and Gear Foundation. The fragmentation in travel eSIMs wasn't theoretical - it was a pain point he hit repeatedly across continents.
His decision to build on Zircuit came from meeting @dr_zircuit in Singapore, then again at DevConnect Thailand. Personal conversations with ecosystem builders shaped their technical direction more than docs alone.
When the Ethereum Foundation folks at ETHGlobal New Delhi showed interest, their advice was direct: "Build only in ZK-centric communities. Have your research right, have your implementation right."
They researched how Cisco, IBM, and telecom companies approach eSIM identity provisioning. Understanding the legacy infrastructure deeply informed where blockchain could actually add value vs. where it's unnecessary.
They pair ZK attestations to encrypt only the telecom parameters that matter, easing the compliance user flow. Their zkTLs approach proves usage without revealing personally identifiable information.
The team is actively prototyping an on-chain SM-DP+ that automates profile preparation, delivery, and activation through verifiable APIs. Each provisioning event leaves a transparent audit trail on-chain, replacing manual hand-offs with cryptographic accountability.
They are currently building the carrier switching prototype, launching in coming months. Not trying to ship everything at once - focused on proving the core mechanic works first.
